There are several features and functionalities in Windows Server 2012 R2 Preview that have either been removed or are planned for removal in subsequent releases (“deprecated”). Here’s a quick reference table that you may find useful. For more detail on this topic, please visit Microsoft’s Web site.

Keep in mind that at the time of writing this list was based on Windows Server 2012 R2 Preview edition and it is subject to change in a subsequent release.

The TechNet article explains why some of the features have been removed or the workarounds for them. For example, the Recovery disk creation feature has been removed from Windows Server 2012 R2 Preview so when you read the TechNet article it explains that the ability to create a recovery disk on CD or DVD has been removed but you can use the Recovery Disk to USB feature.
